Naturally long and dark eyelashes are on many people’s cosmetic wishlists. Prominent lashes make the eyes pop, giving the entire face a more striking appearance.

In the past, there was nothing to be done about lashes that were lacking thickness and length. But thanks to the creation of Latisse, those days are gone. Latisse can help improve your lashes’ natural appearance in the form of a simple-to-apply, once-a-day serum.

Interested in getting gorgeous lashes with Latisse? Let’s learn more about this popular cosmetic product.

What Is Latisse?

Latisse is an FDA-approved treatment to enhance the appearance of eyelashes. This treatment increases the volume of lashes grown, as well as prolongs the hair growth period. This leads to longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes without mascara! While Latisse is often used for purely cosmetic reasons, it’s also helpful for medical conditions that lead to eyelash loss or inadequate eyelashes due to hypotrichosis.

Latisse is a prescription drug, so you’ll need to see a physician to get started. One of the skilled physicians at St. Louis Skin Solutions™ can help determine if Latisse is a good treatment option for you.

How Latisse Works

Latisse contains the medication bimatoprost. Bimatoprost is used to treat glaucoma (marketed as Lumigan) because it relieves pressure in the eye. Longer, thicker eyelashes were an unexpected side effect of Lumigan, which led to the creation of Latisse.

Unlike Lumigan, Latisse is brushed across the upper lash line with an included applicator. When you blink, the formula naturally covers the lower lash line. When applied once nightly, Latisse will show results after approximately two months. After three to four months, the full effects of Latisse will become visible.

Latisse is an effective solution for patients who want to boost their eyelashes’ appearance and rely less on makeup. To learn if Latisse could be right for you, visit our office at St. Louis Skin Solutions™!
