Acne is extremely common, affecting about 85% of adolescents and young adults. Many doctors view acne as superficial and minor, but its effects can go much deeper than the surface of the skin. It can place a heavy emotional and psychological burden on patients that may be far worse than the physical impact. Studies from all over the world have looked at the effect acne has on self-esteem and self-confidence and have found definitive correlations between acne and anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.

St. Louis Skin Solutions™ is now offering Visia Skin Analysis to aid in treating acne.

Visia Skin Analysis is an advanced technology that utilizes high-resolution imaging to identify what’s going on the surface and under the skin so that we can develop a personalized treatment plan to improve and resolve acne over time. These images are crucial in assessing acne’s severity and underlying causes. By analyzing pore size, congestion, and inflammation, the system provides valuable insights into the skin’s specific condition, allowing us to develop targeted treatment plans tailored to the individual's specific needs and track the progress of acne treatment over time. Contact us today to schedule your assessment.  There is no need to live with painful and embarrassing acne.

The evidence is pretty clear — acne has some negative psychosocial effects that can last a lifetime. Therefore, we advocate a serious, thoughtful, and thorough approach to the treatment of acne. Too many patients are simply prescribed a drying agent for their skin and an antibiotic without an evaluation of personal medical history, lifestyle factors, and environment.

Some patients definitely need antibiotics; however, excessive antibiotic usage simply contributes to the ever-worsening pattern of bacterial resistance. The truth is, with a little investigation and education, many patients won’t need pills to control their breakouts. Some natural acne treatment remedies might just be what it takes. Given the importance of a successful acne treatment to one’s self-esteem and psychological health, and the need to reduce antibiotic usage, doesn’t it make sense to explore new treatment protocols? Let the team of licensed experts create a customized acne treatment plan for you. At St. Louis Skin Solutions™, we take a holistic view of our patients to create the best and most effective plan.

St. Louis Skin Solutions™’ Acne Solution

Have you been struggling with acne? We have a team of trained and certified Acne Specialists that will partner with you to design your in-clinic and homecare plan. This plan is designed to clear your skin within 3 to 6 months! We will educate you on acne triggers and your acne type, how to heal your skin, and give you the tools you need to get your skin clear. This is not a quick fix. Your long-term commitment is required to achieve desired results.

Initial Consultation

We start with a thorough discussion of how the St. Louis Skin Solutions™’ Acne Solution program and treatments work. Together we will create a personalized treatment plan to target your skin type and concerns. We will analyze your skin with the most advanced technology using the Visia Skin Analysis System. This process analyzes your baseline skin health by measuring multiple categories including texture, wrinkles, pores and bacterial burden, UV spots, brown spots, and red areas. The licensed experts here at St. Skin Solutions will analyze your skin monthly to help track your progress along the way.

Homecare

Taking care of your skin at home is essential to your success with the St. Louis Solutions’ Acne program. During the initial consultation, we will customize a skincare routine for your acne type. We will look at your Visia Skin Analysis results as well as your sensitivity, oiliness, etc. to create your customized homecare regimen. Throughout the acne program, we will reassess and adjust the products as your skin responds and heals. Your homecare can include a cleanser, toner, acne serum, masks, moisturizer, and SPF; all products are included in your acne program. The success of the acne program will only be achieved with both homecare and in-clinic treatments.

A treatment plan will be designed for you. Your Acne Solution plan will be created specifically for your grade of acne. FAQ

What Causes Acne?
Sudden acne breakouts can be caused by numerous reasons, including hormonal changes or hormonal imbalance, an unhealthy diet including lots of deep fried and junk food, release of cortisol hormones because of excessive stress, excessive production of sebum, and much more.
Should I stop wearing makeup if I have acne?
You don’t have to stop wearing makeup altogether, but you might try switching brands or going with a different type. If you’re noticing breakouts along the sides of your temples, hair creams or gels might be exacerbating your acne. Look for cosmetics and toiletries with the label “non-comedogenic,” meaning that they don’t clog pores.
Does acne mean I’m not keeping my face clean enough?
Not necessarily. In fact, scrubbing too hard at your face can aggravate your acne, and using alcohol-based astringents can dry out the skin. Acne is triggered by hormones, and while gentle, regular cleansing with soap and warm water can sometimes help with mild breakouts, more significant acne requires more than just good hygiene.
What acne treatments are best for me?
That depends on many factors: your age, whether you’re male or female, how severe your acne is, and how long you’ve had it, among others. There are several options available.
