LaseMD in St. Louis

This FDA-approved therapy uses heat to treat skin concerns, including age spots, freckles, mild-to-moderate sun damage, and scaly patches known as Actinic Keratosis. This is a game-changer; nobody can afford downtime anymore! The 1927nm Thulium laser is delivered in tiny micro beams which deliver heat below the skin just enough, without causing it to bleed. Then as the body heals, the micro-damaged skin sloughs off, revealing fresh skin. It heats up tissue in a very controlled fashion so the tissue can rejuvenate.

LaseMD is used on the whole face, neck, chest and arms. It is a great beauty boost before a big event, works on all skin types, and is popular with women and men. Patients love the quick results. Typically, patients have one to two days of pink skin. You don't have any flaking, scabbing or bleeding.

Laser Hair Removal in St. Louis

Laser hair removal is a solution for removing unwanted hair from your body. Here at St. Louis Skin Solutions, the skin care specialists are able to help people with all types of different skin with laser hair reduction treatments.

We have two different lasers that can be used. The first is the LightSheer Duet, which is a state-of-the-art diode laser with vacuum-assist technology. This laser produces a larger beam of highly concentrated light that is well absorbed by the pigment that is located in the follicles. This laser pulses for a fraction of a second, allowing the hair to absorb the light and heat up. As it heats up, the hair shaft and bulb are damaged, which significantly impedes its ability to re-grow. With the large spot size of the hand piece, the process treats numerous hair follicles simultaneously, which makes the treatment move by swiftly.

The other laser that we use for hair reduction is the Lyra. The Lyra is a ND Yag laser with a 1064-nm. The longer pulse of this laser makes it possible to treat patients with darker skin tones. The longer pulse duration and longer wavelength make the 1064 ideal for treating darker-skinned patients due to the reduced scatter and deeper penetration of the laser light.

CO2 in St. Louis

CO2 is a Carbon Dioxide laser that has been used for more that 25 years in the Aesthetic Industry for treatment of skin conditions such as fine and coarse wrinkles, scars, uneven pigment and dilated pores. When the CO2 beam of light comes in contact with the epidermis, it heats and vaporizes the skin. This instantly removes the superficial layers of the skin, improves scars and wrinkles, and smoothes out the surface of the skin. Skin remodeling occurs with new skin and collagen growth.

This laser peel results in the improved appearance of sun-damaged and aging skin. It can also improve some skin blemishes and superficial scars. Improvements from a CO2 laser treatment can be seen for many years after treatment. Results can be prolonged with diligent use of SPF, avoided sun exposure and with the correct at-home skincare.

Vein Therapy

Cutera Excel V

This laser treatment safely and effectively treats both tiny red superficial face and body veins as well as the larger, deeper blue, reticular veins. Spider veins are dilated blood vessels on the skin's surface. They appear red or blue and may be connected in a web or branched pattern. Laser light is absorbed by the spider veins, causing the vessels to heat and in turn causing the blood in the vessels to collapse. We use a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser that is an award-winner among leg veins. It provides continuous contact cooling to enhance your comfort. Two or three treatments, spaced 8 weeks apart, may be required for best results.

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate spider veins. It involves an injection of a solution directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and stick together and the blood to clot. In most cases, the solution is injected through a very fine needle directly into the vein. At this point, you may experience mild discomfort and cramping for one-to-two minutes, especially when larger veins are injected.

Prior to sclerotherapy, you will have an initial consultation with a licensed expert who will decide if you're a good candidate for the procedure.

Laser Genesis

• Using the Cutera Excel V, this procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discreetly, and effectively treat fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, and uneven skin texture, as well as to diffuse redness and scars. The area being treated will gently warm as the laser hand piece is moved back and forth about 1/2 inch above your skin. You can return to normal activities as soon as your procedure is complete (just be sure to apply your sunscreen).

• There are minimal side effects, with the most common being a slight redness that will dissipate within a few hours. A series of treatments will yield optimal results. After the series, you should expect that your skin will have a more youthful glow and appearance as a result of the laser smoothing uneven skin texture caused by aging and sun damage.

• Furthermore, you will see a healthier complexion as large pores have reduced in size and minor imperfections are diminished. The results of an individual skin or rosacea treatment are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.

Enhanced Skin Rejuvenation

This is a revolutionary treatment for sun-damaged skin that uses multiple laser wavelengths to reduce pigmentation as well as broken capillaries. It also encourages collagen growth, which in turn softens existing facial wrinkles. The laser light treats the surface of the skin and penetrates beneath it by using dual wavelengths. The pigmented areas absorb the light, where it is changed to heat. This causes a breakup in the pigment. The longer wavelength then penetrates beneath the surface to eliminate spider veins and broken blood vessels. The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the blood and then collapses the unwanted vein.

For skin toning, the shorter wavelengths treat the surface pigmentation, such as age spots, freckles and rosacea. All of this encourages new collagen growth while smoothing out existing fine lines and wrinkles. It is extremely important to apply sunscreen to avoid sun exposure to minimize future sun damage.

Non-ablative laser procedures are used to treat pigmented areas of the skin, such as sun spots or facial vessels. It is appropriate to use this treatment in treating rosacea, sun damage, nasal vessels, acne, and for the rejuvenation of the hand, neck, under-eye, or décolleté areas.
